The Family
What is a Family?
A family is a group of individual who are intimately related, living under the same roof, supporting and maintaining each other socially, economically and emotionally. Within a family there may be found a conjugal pair, consisting of a husband and wife, and the consanguine family or blood relatives such as a mother and her children or a father and his children. Apart from the characteristics mention above, members of a family share the following:
- Common surname
- Resemblance (in most cases)
- Same religious belief (in most cases)
- The Nuclear Family
- The Extended Family
- The Sibling Household
- The Reorganized Family
- The Single-parent Family
